I lost another friend today to alcoholism. Quite frankly I’m pissed off, as I always am each and every time this disease claims another victim.
The numbers are staggering, but they really are just numbers until it hits close to home and you realize that another human being that you knew is now gone.
I’ll make this short and sweet. You can either choose to live or choose to die. No power on earth can make that choice for you.
Today I choose to live.
Sorry for your loss Bill. Today, I also choose to live.
Zhora, thank you, and I am very grateful that you have made that choice. 🙂
Sorry to hear it Bill. It’s a really tough demon we’re fighting.
Mike.
Thanks, Mike! It is indeed, so we take it a day at a time and choose life. 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Sorry for your loss. Alcohol is consuming precious lives.
Thank you Nithya…it is indeed my friend. 🙂
sorry to hear that, Bill.
Yes, I agree that we are intelligent souls to make a choice.
Have a good weekend, my friend!
Thank you Ruchira! I wish you peace and blessings this weekend too.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost a relative to alcoholism. Thank you, Bill for choosing to live.
Thank you Marlene. I’m pretty happy I chose to live, too. 🙂
I am so sorry for your loss too. Addiction steals life. I know that mix of anger and grief, and the only thing that heals it is forgiveness. I wish you peace as you remember your friend.
Thank you Lurana! That is very kind and compassionate of you, but I would expect nothing else. 🙂
I am so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel; I lost my grandfather to alcoholism, because it destroyed his liver. It was a living hell for my family. I am so glad you decided to step up and not being a victim to this addiction.
Thank you Francesca. I’m sorry for your loss as well….and yes, I am very happy that I no longer play the victim in life.
Alcoholism is such a frustrating disease, both for the alcoholic and others around them. Unlike other diseases, we tend to glorify the drinking, and then we criminalize the alcoholic who has no control over the substance.
Very true my friend…it is an ugly disease that takes no prisoners.
Thank you for stopping by.
I’m sorry for that.
Thank you! I appreciate that.
